Chevrolet Lease Return Center
EAST HARTFORD CHEVROLET / LEASE-END HELP
Chevrolet Lease Return Center
Your lease is ending. Let’s plan your next move.
Call before bringing in your vehicle. We’ll confirm your leasing company, return eligibility, paperwork and an appointment. A vehicle drop-off is not a substitute for completing the required return process.
Three ways to move forward
Move into another Chevy
Tell us what you want next and bring your current vehicle for an appraisal. We’ll help you compare your lease-end options with available Chevrolet vehicles.
Buy your leased Chevy
Love the vehicle you already drive? Review your purchase option and an itemized buyout quote before deciding whether to pay outright or apply for financing.
Return your vehicle
Not replacing it right now? Call to confirm the return arrangements and follow your leasing company’s instructions.
Want another Chevy before your lease ends?
Start with an in-store appraisal. We may be able to help some customers trade out of a lease early and into another Chevrolet without an early-termination penalty. Whether that works for you depends on the vehicle’s appraised value, the applicable payoff, your contract and any eligible programs.
An early trade is different from simply returning a vehicle early. Remaining obligations do not disappear. Any payoff shortfall, fees or negative equity must be accounted for and may increase the cost of your next vehicle. We will review the numbers before you decide; a penalty-free transition is not guaranteed.
Make the appraisal visit count
Bring your vehicle, current mileage, lease-end date and account information. Tell us what you want to change about your next vehicle: passenger space, monthly budget, driving range, cargo or towing needs. Having a clear wish list helps us focus the visit on suitable choices.
Ask for a side-by-side explanation of the appraisal, payoff and proposed next-vehicle transaction. Separate the value of your current vehicle from any new-vehicle offer so you can understand the complete proposal.
Can I buy my leased Chevrolet?
Yes. Your Chevrolet lease includes a purchase option. For GM Financial leases, request a current purchase-option quote through GM Financial and review how to complete the transaction with a designated party. Your contract and current quote determine the amount due, including applicable taxes and charges.
Our suggestion: compare the complete buyout cost with the vehicle’s condition, how well it fits your needs and your alternatives. Ask about available financing if you prefer payments; financing is subject to approval and terms. Keeping a familiar vehicle can be appealing, but the decision should be based on the full quote.
Have questions about your next vehicle’s payment structure? Read our lease vs. buy guide or call us to discuss your options.
Your lease-return checklist
Before your appointment
- Confirm your maturity date, leasing company and return location.
- Ask the lessor about its pre-return inspection process. A trade appraisal and a lease inspection serve different purposes.
- Review any inspection findings and your contract before authorizing repairs.
- Arrange transportation home if you are returning without replacing the vehicle.
What to bring
- Your driver’s license, registration and lease or account information.
- All keys and remotes, the owner’s manual and original vehicle accessories.
- Any inspection report and relevant repair receipts.
- For an EV, confirm which original charging equipment and accessories must be returned.
Before handing over the keys
Remove personal belongings and toll tags. Follow the vehicle instructions to clear saved addresses, paired phones and personal profiles. Ask about the proper handling of plates, registration and insurance for your situation rather than canceling anything prematurely.
After the return
Keep copies of signed return documents, the recorded mileage and the date of handover. Check with your leasing company that the return was recorded, and review any final statement. A completed dealership visit does not necessarily mean your account has a zero balance.
Understand possible lease-end charges
Depending on your agreement and account, a return can involve excess mileage, excess wear, a disposition fee, unpaid amounts or other applicable charges. An inspection can help identify condition issues before turn-in. Ask the lessor to explain anything you do not recognize.
Some qualifying transactions may receive a disposition-fee waiver under the lessor’s rules. Do not assume every fee or remaining payment will be waived because you choose another Chevrolet. Ask which charges apply to your account and request confirmation of any applicable waiver.
Leased somewhere else?
Call us with the vehicle make, leasing company and lease-end date. We’ll confirm whether we can assist with your specific return and what arrangements are needed. Do not assume that every brand, lender or lease can be returned at any dealership.
If your priority is another Chevrolet, mention that when you call. We can start with an appraisal discussion and explore available vehicles while the return or purchase requirements are being confirmed.

Lease-return questions
Can I trade my lease early without a penalty?
It may be possible for some customers. Bring the vehicle for an appraisal so we can review the payoff and transaction. Any shortfall and applicable charges still need to be addressed; no blanket penalty waiver is promised.
Do I have to buy another vehicle to return my lease?
A standard lease-end return is an option separate from buying or leasing a replacement. Call to confirm your return eligibility and appointment.
Is a trade appraisal the same as a lease inspection?
No. The appraisal considers a potential purchase or trade value. The lessor’s inspection assesses condition under its return standards. Ask which process you need.
Should I repair damage before returning the vehicle?
Review the inspection findings and your lessor’s requirements first. Keep repair documentation and ask how completed repairs should be reported. Do not assume an informal estimate is the final lease-end charge.
What if I am over my mileage allowance?
Review the mileage terms in your contract. We can discuss replacement and buyout options, but excess mileage is not automatically forgiven when you shop for another vehicle.
Can I return an EV lease?
Call with the vehicle and leasing-company details to confirm arrangements. Ask which charging cables, adapters and other original accessories should accompany it.
How do I get started?
Call (860) 528-1554. Have your lease-end date, vehicle details and current mileage ready, and tell us whether you want another Chevy, a buyout review or a return appointment.
